Liposuction suctions fat from defined areas to improve contour. It does not tighten large amounts of loose skin and is not a substitute for diet, exercise or bariatric care.
Who it may be for
Adults near a stable, healthy weight with localised fat and good skin elasticity may be candidates. Poor skin tone, bleeding disorders and unrealistic circumferential reduction goals are limitations.
How the procedure is performed
Tumescent fluid is infiltrated; cannulas remove fat through small incisions. Volumes are kept within safe limits. Anaesthesia type depends on area and amount. Compression garments are applied afterwards.
Recovery
Bruising, swelling and numbness last weeks. Garments are worn as instructed. Final contour appears after swelling recedes, often over 3 months.
Risks and consultation
Contour irregularity, seroma, skin injury, thrombosis and, rarely, more serious fluid or embolic events can occur. Safe volume limits are respected.
Frequently asked questions
- Will the fat come back?
- Treated fat cells are removed, but remaining fat can enlarge with weight gain. Lifestyle still matters.
- Can any area be treated?
- Common areas include abdomen, flanks, thighs and male chest. Each site is judged for skin quality and safety.
- Is it painful?
- Soreness similar to bruising is expected. Pain control is planned individually.
- Does it help cellulite?
- Liposuction is not a reliable cellulite treatment and can sometimes make surface irregularity more visible.
